Star Patches Star patches are academic awards for students who make Honor Roll and or Straight "A"s. We understand that learning Martial Arts and geting good grades in school is hard, so if a student is doing good in both, we believe they should show it. Awards are given based on standard quarterly grading periods, 4 Star patches per year, per student.
Honor Role - When a student gets all "A"s and "B"s or their equivalent in grading they will earn a red star. The majority must be "A"s (3-"A"s and 2-"B"s) or equal (3-"A"s and 3-"B"s) to earn a star patch.
Straight "A"s - When a student gets straight "A"s or their equivalent in grading, they will earn a gold star.
The Star Patches are worn on the center line of the left lapel (thich edge of the gi top), first star starting at the hight of the center of the system & school patches, all others go below following the lapel down.
Note: Some schools may use a different grading system that does not fall into standard quarterly grading system. If so, it is up to the Senfu to determine if and how too award a star patch.
Also, some schools opperate more on a Pass, Satisfactory, and Failing type of system (P,S,F), and do not have an honor role or tiered grading system (A,B,C,D,F, or 1,2,3,4,5, or 4,3,2,1). This is mostly in elementary schools and private schools. Students who fall into this category can earn a red star bi yearly for straight "P" or their equivalent.
